A. The FishGuys is a full service aquarium company. The crew at the FishGuys specializes in all aspects of the aquarium hobby, including Design, Sales, and Service. We provide a complete package in regards to your aquarium, offering premium livestock while consistently delivering high end aquarium maintenance. It is our goal to leave with you an aesthetically pleasing and functional living piece of art for your home or office, and to take the stress out of keeping exotic live animals.

Q. How long have the FishGuys been in business?
A. The FishGuys have been in business for over 15 years. The owner, Bill Burner, has been involved in the pet industry for over 35 years. The FishGuys are a family owned and operated company, with a total 50+ years of experience in the aquarium industry.

Q. Do the FishGuys sell fish or aquariums?
A. Both! We have a great selection of livestock, aquariums, and aquarium supplies.

Q. How often should I get my tank maintained?
A. The FishGuys suggest monthly maintenance for fresh water and fish only salt water aquariums and bi-weekly or weekly maintenance for reef tanks and larger aquariums. Of course each individual aquariums needs are different and as such custom maintenance plans are often needed for specialized set ups.

Q. Do I have to sign a yearly maintenance contract?
A. No, we don’t require yearly contracts. We prefer to let the quality of our work and knowledge of all things fish stand for itself. It’s our goal to earn your business each and every time we come out.

Q. Does the FishGuys have business insurance?
A. Yes! FishGuys is a fully insured company.

Q. I’m moving, can the FishGuys help me move my tank?
A.Yes! The FishGuys specializes in keeping aquariums and livestock safe when making your move. Whether across town or across several counties, FishGuys has you covered.

Q. How many fish can I put in my tank?
A. As a general rule of thumb 1” of a fishes full adult size per 2-3 gallons is usually a safe bet. Though there are many factors to consider including tank and fish type, and maintenance and feeding routines. We are always happy to discuss a strategy for populating your aquarium with high quality specimens.

Q. How often should I feed my fish and what if I go on vacation?
A. Feeding the tanks inhabitants can be one of the most entertaining parts of owning an aquarium, although, overfeeding is the most common cause of many aquarium issues. Generally speaking, you want to feed the fish no more than they can eat in just a few minutes. This can be achieved by slowly putting food in and then stopping as soon as they show disinterest. The FishGuys Aquarium Technicians are always happy to show you what a good starting point for feeding portions is. Ultimately, less is almost always more when it comes to feeding. Issues related to overfeeding can cause problems in just one day, while issues related to under feeding generally take longer to manifest.
In regards to vacation, long-weekend trips usually can be taken without a feeding plan. Longer week-or-more trips will need more attention to planning. Several quality automatic feeders are available and can be brought, filled, and installed for you prior to your trip.

Q. What type of fish should I get?
A. That depends on several factors including tank size, current inhabitants, and availability. Building a great group of specimens can take time and it’s important to always use caution when adding new stock. We’re always happy to help in suggesting and acquiring new livestock options.

Q. Is it expensive?
A. The Fishguys can create service plans to fit most needs and budgets. While all aquarium set ups are different, we strive to create a plan that suits all your aquatic needs.

Q. What is included with regular planned monthly maintenance services?
A. General monthly maintenance services includes the following: water quality testing including chemicals to make adjustments, overall health and wellness inspection of all your tanks fish and inhabitants, regular partial water changes, algae and debris removal both inside and out of the aquarium, cleaning of decorations, cleaning of gravel and substrates, periodic maintenance as required of all filtration and purification systems ( including wet dry, canister filters, hang on back filters, skimmers, all reactors, sterilization units, R.O. systems, etc.), programming and maintenance of lighting and computer systems, cleaning and refilling of auto feeders, and an artistic redecoration of your aquarium on each visit.
We also offer a full line of decorations, essential element chemicals, high quality dry and frozen foods, filter medias, livestock, hardware, other aquarium supplies, and additional labor services. At the FishGuys we don’t oversell, and we hate to see unneeded clutter under or around your aquarium. It’s our goal to get you just what your aquarium needs to succeed and help your pets flourish and live a long healthy and happy life.

Q. What’s the largest aquarium you’ve installed or service?
A. It started out many years ago as regular maintenance for a medium size reef then expanded to a 300 gallon reef and eventually when the business moved to its new and larger building several years ago we installed a 1000+ gallon Coral Reef Aquarium in the main lobby. We service that tank regularly and are proud to have been able to watch its growth and evolution.

Q. Can I get a custom aquarium?
A. Sure! The Fishguys can help in the design, acquisition, and installation of all phases of custom aquariums.

Q. Something’s wrong with my fish! Can you help?
A. Yes! Each member of our staff has a comprehensive knowledge of all aquarium systems, fish behavior and health, and water chemistry. Additionally we have a fish only veterinarian that we work closely with when we deal with some of the more complex issues of exotic aquatic animals.
